A rich history
Located on the roof of the iconic Galveston factory building, Rooftop Gaston is a stunning example of industrial heritage with a rich history. Originally built as a cotton mill in the 19th century, it played an important role in the city's thriving textile industry. UCO Galveston was part of Union Cotonnière, a merger of six Ghent textile mills, and was named for the Texas port from which cotton then reached Europe. The imposing water tower and robust industrial character recall those days. Today, the building lives on as a valuable industrial heritage and inspiring meeting place.
